Behind the Scenes

A Guide to the Custom Jewellery Making Process

Custom jewellery is a unique and special way to celebrate a special occasion or to simply treat yourself to something truly one-of-a-kind. Whether you are looking for a custom engagement ring, a personalized pendant, or a unique pair of earrings, the process of creating custom jewellery can be an exciting and rewarding experience.

Conversations

The first step in the custom jewellery process is to decide on a design. This can be a design that you have created yourself, or you can work with a jewellery designer to come up with a unique concept. If you are working with a designer, it is important to communicate your vision and preferences clearly, as well as any budget constraints you may have. At Bruce Trick Jewellery we prefer to have in-depth conversations about our clien’t needs or desires before jumping into designing. We want to make the final piece as unique to that client as they possible.

What's it Made of?

Once the design has been finalized, the next step is to choose the materials for the jewellery. This may include the type of metal, such as gold, silver, or platinum, as well as any gemstones or diamonds that will be incorporated into the piece. It is important to carefully consider the quality and durability of the materials, as well as their aesthetic appeal.

Estimate

With materials and design in place, the price can now be estimated fairly accuratly. Before going ahead jewellers will often have their clients approval on the estimate before going forward along with a deposit.

It Looks So Real!

At Bruce Trick Jewellery we move into the next step using technology. Your piece is created in 3D on a computer by the designerr/goldsmith working from the approved design. Once completed photo-like renderings are then sent for approval before moving on to the next step.

Casting, Polishing, and Finishing, Oh My!

Once the 3D model has been made and 3D printed, the jewellery will be created using a variety of techniques, such as casting, setting, and finishing. This process can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and the skill of the jeweller.

Love It!

Upon completion, your custom piece of jewellery will be inspected and polished to ensure that it meets the highest standards of quality. The final step is to present the finished piece to the customer, who can then wear and enjoy their unique and beautifully crafted custom jewellery.

Overall, the process of creating custom jewellery can be a fun and rewarding experience, whether you are creating a piece for yourself or as a gift for someone special. By carefully considering your design and materials, and working with a skilled and experienced jewellery designer, you can create a truly unique and beautiful piece that will be treasured for years to come.
